1. Job Summary
The Project Accountant is part of the Finance team and works closely with the Group Financial Controller, Management Accountant and Finance Director on key financial outputs for the organisation.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Project Accountant will primarily support the finances of the First Class Game and England Cricket. The role will also work more broadly on key financial outputs such as variance reports, budgets and long term plans.

Group Financial Controller, Finance Director, Management Accountant, Finance Manager, Other Project Accountants, Chief Operating Officer, Business Change Managers, Commercial Director, Managing Director – England Cricket, Director – England Cricket Operations, Teams at Loughborough and Edgbaston.
5. Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Preparation of the annual First Class County Financial Report, covering the financial aspects of their businesses and summarising the key trends affecting the game.
Key role in the preparation of the organisation’s annual budget working with departments to collect their budgetary information within set timescales.
Responsible for monthly reporting areas including:
- monitoring departmental variances against budget
- monitoring departmental expenses using reports from the ECB expenses system
Providing financial support to ECB departments, including:
- recommending and implementing improvements to controls and systems
- explaining financial information to non-finance staff members
- communicating with and supporting local ECB offices (Edgbaston, Loughborough)
Supporting the preparation of long term financial plans, including working with the Commercial Department to determine revenue recognition over contract periods.
Reviewing County compliance with the FCC Player Salary Cap regulations and conducting audits on a sample basis.
Ensuring First Class County compliance with other ECB financial regulations and managing the collection of key financial information.
Supporting the Group Financial Controller and Management Accountant with the preparation of statutory reporting and management accounts.
Perform additional assignments, as directed by the Group Financial Controller or Finance Director.

ACA or CIMA or equivalent qualified Accountant
Strong report writing skills
Strong organisational and time management skills
Proactive and can work on own initiative
Good teamworker
Excellent IT skills (Advanced Excel and knowledge of Sage or other reporting packages)
Good communication skills (written and verbal)
